[And a good evening to you all as well, Johto; Reaver's personal feed is going active fairly late tonight - not anywhere near hideous o'clock in the morning, of course, but still far later than it usually does. He seems to be sitting at one of the tables that are ever-present in the average hotel room, the corner lit up by the screen from the 'Gear but otherwise the room seems to be unlit; judging by how low his voice is when he speaks, and how he's leaning forward a bit over some sort of book - a diary, perhaps, as it seems to have a lot of rather pretty (but at this distance generally unreadable) handwriting splashed across the pages - he seems to be trying to keep someone else in the room from waking up.

The darkness is sharply pronounced beneath his eyes tonight; it's difficult to tell if it's because he's particularly tired, or simply the result of the lighting being so bad. Either way, that usual smirk is still present across his features; smarmy as ever, really.]

You know, the entries on this...PokéDex thing are highly, highly morbid, even when one isn't reading them in the middle of the night; some of them seem to be shameless hyperbole, of course - as a fair amount of writing is, in my experience - but then there are some entries regarding things such as...oddly specific injuries such as blowing the damned creatures up, that make me wonder exactly who would think to research these things to begin with. I mean, if you must make a living through working with these creatures I suppose the least you can do is make it interesting, but still, one does have to wonder...

[...trailing...off...

...ah, right, there was a point in here somewhere wasn't there]

I suppose that does beg the question of how true everything that's been written down regarding these creatures is. There are legends in this world that speak of all sorts of things - creation myths, explanations regarding why things are as they are, all that other lovely what-have-you. Is this a case of there being literal gods in the shape of these creatures, or is it more that the creatures are used as an explanation, if you will - a way to justify to oneself how things came to pass? I wouldn't be surprised either way, really; I just wonder if it's anything that anyone knows one way or the other.

[He pauses for a moment; looks up across the room for a second as though checking something. Or perhaps someone.]

...Ah, and while I'm here - Colonel Archer, while I do appreciate this most gracious gift from you and your companion, dare I ask why you appear to have sent me a ginger?

[...yeah, he's hanging out in Ryuunosuke's room for the night, shush.]

[ACTION]

[And a good afternoon to you, too, Johto! And it...is a good afternoon, weather-wise, if brisk as all get-out; it seems no one has informed Reaver that the onset of winter is a perfectly good reason to not be doing anything in relation to the ocean because the sea air is going to be cold as hell, and as such he is currently standing atop a giant whale, alternating between looking generally annoyed with his hands planted firmly on his hips, and gesturing about with that metal cane of his like mad flailing is going out of style. Occasionally he lashes out, mostly in the form of kicking at her, driving his heel down onto her head like that's going to have any effect at all; at least the Wailord seems to generally have patience for her trainer, as opposed to refusing to have mercy on his comparatively breakable human body and mauling him. Or simply rolling over and depositing him in the water. No, she seems to be genuinely wanting to please, even if she's more than slightly confused (and, from the look on her face, more than slightly...ah, simple, to put it gently).

So at least Reaver has that much to be grateful for, even if he doesn't realize it yet - he's a bit too preoccupied with the part where Lady Elizabeth (...that would be the massive goddamn whale taking up space in your harbor, sorry about that Olivine) still doesn't seem to comprehend exactly what he wants her to do. After a while he just gives up on trying to get her to do anything and lets himself drop down to settle on her head, legs hanging idly in front of her face where they're crossed at the knee, idly twirling that cane in his hand and trying not to sulk too badly. Because this is Johto and she is a three-story whalecondo and Reaver quite simply does what he wants.

He does address her after a moment, however.]

You're fortunate that you're at least somewhat more useful than that fish, you know.

[In response to that, she...makes noises at him. See! She's useful! Useful is good!

To which Reaver sighs and idly swings his leg back to kick at her a bit without bothering to stand up, just because honey, you're dumb.]

[Well, since he hardly sees any point in remaining frustrated forever and he does have a device that's entirely capable of polling the audience, those who aren't present for the whale-kicking spree that he's been going on will be treated to a video eventually; he seems to have gotten down from his...noble steed there, though that really just means that whatever scenery is behind him is blocked out entirely by whaleface while Lady Elizabeth tries to figure out what he's doing.

"What he's doing" for the time being is holding the 'Gear one-handed at a bit of a distance, giving what's best described as a rather spectacular Facebook shot with decidedly less duckface; the other hand is visible on the feed, one of the HM discs pinned between his index and middle fingers.]

It seems I've managed to collect a fair few of these, in my time here; it's obvious they're supposed to be used for something, though really, it's not as though it's immediately plain why. I'm sure this isn't an unpopular, or even an uncommonly expressed bit of opinion, but as I'm currently the one dealing with it then I'm afraid you're going to listen to it one more time, for my sake - having to teach a creature Surf or Fly when it's obviously capable of naturally transporting at least one, if not several, humans with absolutely no effort...why in the world is this even a thing that happens?

But that isn't the point here, really - the point is that I have no idea what to do with these discs or how they're properly utilized, and every method I can think of to attempt doing so is probably not acceptable by any world's standards, much less this one. These aren't exactly anything like what we have in my world, and somehow I suspect that they wouldn't work the same way here even if they were.

So. How, exactly, am I supposed to put this collection of mine to good use, hm? And yes, I've read that book of ours - somehow breaking them seems a bit counterintuitive.
